During my school days, I never had exposure to playing tennis. This sport wasn’t on the list of the extra curricular or outdoor sporting activities that the school availed to students. As an adult I have had opportunities to watch great tennis being played, and I realise that inside my heart there is a great yearning to learn how to play this outdoor sport.
So, I am going to join a local tennis clinic that’s luckily in close proximity to my house. They offer daytime and evening tennis coaching under floodlights. I know it is not going to be easy to learn this sport because I am a bit flat-footed. I know this because I used to react slowly when I was playing netball at school. The coach used to urge me to run and meet the ball before it hit the ground. Most times I would miss the ball, but that doesn’t bother me because I am bent on learning how to play tennis.
I know that I too old to turn professional but as a teacher I want to be able to play and coach tennis in my community to small girls.
