The table presents the average yearly income of eight European countries in 2008 and 2013. It also gives the proportion growth in income over the five years.
Overall, four out of the eight countries saw an increase in the average annual income. In contrast, Greece,Italy,and the United Kingdom experienced a reduction in their personal yearly income. Furthermore, that of the Netherlands remained the same over the period. It can be seen that Luxembourg had the highest average income in both 2008 and 2013.
It is noticeable that Poland, which earned the least per person in 2008, underwent a significant rise in personal income of 22% from 18,000 in 2008 to 22,000 in 2013. As a result, Poland overtook Greece to become the country with the second lowest income. Belgium and Austria also registered an increase of 15% and 13%, respectively. As the richest country in 2008, Luxembourg witnessed a 17% growth of its average yearly income. Even though its figures has not increased as much as Poland, Luxembourg remained the most wealthy country in 2013. However, the personal annual income of Greece, Italy and the UK had declined by 13%,12%,and 4% respectively by 2013. Finally, In the Netherlands,where people received 28,000 dollars every year, the number remained the same throughout the period.
