Actually, I’m not a sporty person. I only go running and hiking in my free time.
If I need to choose one outdoor sport to try, I think it would be snorkeling.
The main reason is that my friend Sandy highly recommended snorkeling on Orchid island, which we called Lanyu in Mandarin. She knows I don’t do any water sports because I’m afraid of open water. To be honest, I had nearly drowned when I was 3.
However, Sandy had persuaded me to try snorkeling! She mentioned that I just need to put on swimwear, goggles, and snorkel, and then float on the ocean. The rest is to enjoy the beauty of the ocean and creatures in Lanyu!
Last year we went there but unluckily, the weather was too bad so Sandy couldn’t take me to conquer my first-time challenge. While the amazing and extremely clear water there did attract me to go back and try snorkeling, or maybe even swimming. There are many mysterious spots that travelers need to climb up and down on the volcano rocks to find the narrow path to the hidden huge nature pools! The pools actually connected to the ocean, so there would be different layers of green jade and light blue colors. The scene was really stunning. Even now, the vivid image is still stuck in my head. And when travelers are finally in the water, there will be many precious and colorful Nemo, parrotfish, butterfly fish, and corals around them! When I think of this, I can’t wait to visit the island again. I think it will be an unforgettable adventure if I manage to learn snorkeling!
