I would like to tell you about an outdoor sport that I’d like to try for the first time.
See, I’m already in my late 30s now but I haven’t tried riding a bike. When I was young, I noticed that I have some problems with balance and that’s one of the reasons that I was quite hesitant to try out this outdoor sport.
I’d say, I am aiming to learn this outdoor sport right before I turn 40. I would love to know what this 38-year-old body can do, without judgments and I probably would understand and do this outdoor sport in a place that’s not open to the public, a developing village, perhaps, so that no one will see me attempting to ride a bike in my late 30’s. It’s pretty funny but honestly, I will still go for it, because other than it would somehow fix my balance issues, this will also be adding confidence in me, because this is another skill and it’s like – achievement unlocked!
Learning this sport may not be that easy for me – as I have observed when we’re older, we’re more conscious and afraid of possible accidents that might happen to us. But then again, what’s important is that we move forward. We put our minds to it, and believe that we will learn something new even we are older because that’s the reality of life.
to learn this skill, I will have to do it every day and in a gradual process – first is to remove the pedals and just focus on balancing, for next week, we will try to put back the pedals, then focus on two things – pedal and balance, then for the 3rd week and next few weeks, we try to do them all together but this time with proper movement of our feet.
I may surprise myself because I’ll never know something unless I try to do it. Life is full of surprises and so is biking in the late 30s. This will also allow me to bond with my kids as they both enjoy biking, I was the only one left – me and my hesitant self, but say no more – we’ll learn biking before the year ends!
